As we Get Older, We Seem to Be Cold More Frequently

Have you ever noticed how little old ladies always seem to be wearing a sweater? Ever since I was a kid, I have noticed this.

  • I live in a southern state, and trust me, it seems extremely odd to see folks wearing a sweater in June.

All I want to do during the summer months is turn the temperature setting on the thermostat ever lower! The a/c is my best friend throughout most of the year where I live. This is especially true in the summer, though, because the thermostat often reads in or near triple digits! Being able to enjoy the pleasure of air conditioning breathing its cool breath on me by way of the a/c air vents is a joy to behold. I realize that I am very blessed indeed, as many folks in other countries would have no such good fortune. I will admit, though, that being chilly more often may be a good thing. That means that as we get older, we require less a/c and therefore we save a few bucks every month. Perhaps the little old ladies who set their thermostats on 80 have extra money to burn after they have paid their utility invoices. Personally, the a/c eats up most of my otherwise disposable income each summer. I remember my mom, before she passed, was never hot. Whenever I visited with her, I was dying to adjust the a/c thermostat, but out of respect to her, I did not. It was always great to get in the car and blast that a/c right on my face after I sat with her for any length of time.
