I was spending a fortune on the utility bills in my apartment.
Part of the problem was due to the fact that I didn’t want to come home in the evening to a warm home.
Even though I was gone 12 hours at work, I didn’t want to spend a single minute in my apartment without a very cold temperature. I worked really hard during the day and I wanted to come home to a house that was 68°. Since it was my apartment and my money, it seems reasonable. Unfortunately, I was spending a lot of money to cool the apartment to 68 degrees all day and no one was benefiting from the AC. One of my co-workers suggested that I buy a programmable thermostat. I told my co-worker that I didn’t have any problems with the thermostat, and they gave me a long speech about saving money. They explained the programmable thermostat really well, and I wanted to learn more after our discussion. I stopped at the hardware Supercenter on the way home and talked to someone on staff about a programmable thermostat. They had a few models in the store, including one that was on clearance. All of the new programmable thermostats had a 7 inch digital display screen, and this one only had a 5in screen. I took it home and followed the instructions to install the item. I’m not sure if my apartment building manager would approve of the programmable thermostat or not. It’s only been a few days, but I like being able to set a different temperature all day long. I hope it will lead to savings on my monthly utility bill.
